From the director...
Hi, my name is Frank Aubrey. In December 1998, I opened Ohio County Resources for the Disabled, because of the need I saw in Ohio County for help with medical equipment and supplies. Since then, I have donated, at no charge, over 300 hospital beds, wheelchairs, and other supplies. I have lived in Ohio County for 18 years, and I am very proud to be serving others.
Physically disabled people - men, women, and children who were born with a physical impairment or who have a physical limitation as the result of illness, injury, accident, or age - represent the largest, although often hidden, minority in the world. In the United States alone, at least one out of every ten citizens is physically disabled. We do not need statistics, however, to tell us how far-reaching, and perhaps devastating, are the effects of our own disabilities or those of physically handicapped relatives or friends.
I just thought I would take a minute to tell you how much your help would mean to this program. You see, I have two forms of Muscular Dystrophy, and I am confined to a wheelchair. I know what it is like to need help getting medical equipment, and finding the resources and programs to help. I am trying to explain what we do at Ohio County Resources for the Disabled, and why I do what I do to help the people in Ohio County and the surrounding counties. I give away wheelchairs, hospital beds, walkers, bedside toilets, and other equipment, such as adult daipers and supplies, free of charge, through a referral system from any doctor, church, hospital, hospice, or social agency in the area, to people who truly need help. If you are wondering how I can do this, it is possible because people like you donate financial help and equipment regularly.
If you can help at all, it would mean a lot to a lot of people. I would like for you to stop by my office at any time, and let me show you the good that we are doing. I am here most of the time, seeking to minister to needy people in some small way.
Thank You Very Much, Frank Aubrey
